Peonies, roses, oriental/orientipet lilies...

I have tried to grow peonies unsuccessfully for years where I live and it is not a good climate for them. I have wasted serious cash and now just buy them cut at the flower shop. Roses and the oriental/orientipet lilies grow here easily and so I do get some satisfaction with those.
