I guess there will always be money making schemes, but a skywalk over the Grand Canyon is a bit much. What's next? Fill it in, build homes on it, but hey they will put up a sign that says" This site was once home to one of natures most beautiful areas."

It has been some time since we have visited the Grand Canyon.
I read your question in amazement, I knew nothing about the Skywalk.
Being inquisitive by nature (and interested), I googled it and found the official site.
It looks so out-of-place perched out there like that.
Man has the unique intelligence and ability to design and build an engineering marvel like this.
And at the same time we possess the stupidity to encroach on and spoil a natural wonder of the world.

So, I take it you are not attending the public Official Opening next week then?

Thanks Sluggo for this great question.

What is the big deal? It's not that large and it's not like it spans the entire canyon; it doesn't even stick out into the canyon that far either. Considering the Grand Canyon is hundreds of miles long, Skywalk is a tiny speck that isn't even noticeable. These Native Americans could have built Skywalk or attempted at building another Casino, which do you prefer? You might call it a money making scheme but maybe you should go live on that Indian Reservation and see how poor and desperate those people are. I think you are being a little extreme with your notion that it's ruining the Grand Canyon considering how small it is and how it's in the middle of nowhere.

Everybody breathe .
I have written several long informative answers / tirades on this subject in the past month or so including an incomplete 15 paragraph one from yesterday - check my answers.
The bottom line is that the Skywalk is located approximatley 150+ river miles down river from Grand Canyon Village .If it was located another 10 miles or so down river it would be in Lake Mead
So the Canyon is safe.

I don't and I don't plan on using it; but I don't own it and am not responsible for providing funding for the Indian population in that area, so it's not my call. There is a LOT of canyon there.
