The ability ... to listen to your desires and transform them in will,powerful will,and transform that in action , also in the way to action you need to overcome fear , anger , jealousy , depression , sometimes , and stand up again and again after a fall , others just think courage is the will to do your responsability , despite whatever , others think courage is the chance we have to prove our will and the trueness of our feelings ....and beliefs , courage is the sense of pride and honor that you want to defend because you believe and love something , courage means to never quit even when odds are bad ,or when times see rough , when your loved is confused or gone ... and you have to hide the pain and try to make love live ,.... ok ... (now play fanfar for the common man)

Readiness to act for any needy moment and everready feeling and preparedness for doing any required thing which is useful to people and country and next to selfish motive and warriors and mentally prepared like sport persons and some businessmen do mentally prepared because if they are courage enough, they lose business and social leaders too lose their people for contacting for political benefit. Hope you understood the same.

Taking a risk for something you feel is important.

At times of adversities, they just do it while others play it safe. The difference between having courage and not having courage is in taking action.

Dear friend,
your question is well answered already by top scorer.

The COURAGE means ;

the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.

So the persons you referred were able or are able to face the problems without difficulty, without fear.They are brave.
So the courage is shown how quickly and effectively you react effectively.All are not that type and though react their reaction is after some thought and is delayed.
So those people who are able to face the problems they face without fear or pain and come out successfully are really above rest of the people around.

Courage in my view is :
When some one look's into your eyes and you are pure and not afraid to die or struggle.
World would be dark without courage and all men would be slaves.
Courage need not to regret for any thing it means what ever i have done has to be done for safe guarding my surroundings.

I think courage is doing what is right morally and ethically even in the face danger. That danger could be physical, mental or emotional. It could be charging across a battle field or reporting illegal activity even though there could be retaliation or may cost you your job.
