Help, we have just bought a house, and want to fix a clothes rail into a cupboard that has been plaster boarded. My hubby has already encountered a massive problem with fixing curtain poles (and has resorted to no more nails!!) I don't think this will work with a curtain pole!!

Is there any way we can find the wooden battons behind the plaster board walls to give a stronger hold?

Go to your local hardware store and get a stud finder. Get one that uses batteries and lights up as you pass over the stud in the wall. I am assuming what you are referring to as wooden battons are the same thing we refer to as studs, the 2 x 4 boards in the wall.

Try Screwing A Board up on the Wall first and then put your Poles on the Board. This is what most Contractors do inside Closets, to make them more stable.

You can buy a stud finder at a Home Center and it will only cost from $10 and up they are easy to use with instructions.
