Well, it's a square so all of it's sides are 3.5cm
Area of a square/rectangle = length x width
You know length and width are 3.5cm
So, area = 3.5cm x 3.5cm = 12.25cm^2
Note it's centimetres squared 'cos you're also multiplying cm x cm

A SQUARE IS A SPECIAL CONDITION OF A RECTANGLE IN THAT IT NOT ONLY HAS ALL ANGLES AT 90 DEGREES BUT ALSO HAS ALL SIDES OF EQUAL LENGTH. THEREFORE IF ANY SIDE IS 3.5 cm, ALL SIDES ARE 3.5cm. SIDE SQUARED= AREA.
3.5 * 3.5 = 12.25
