If someone acts like that: don't do business with them...
Seriously though,
Let's say the larger number is x
Thus, the smaller number is x-12
The product is 17, so x(x-12)=17
Solve for x, do the calcs, presto!

There is a major flaw in this question.....
The difference of the two numbers is 12 ie a-12 = b

But the product of the two numbers is 17 ie a + b = 17.

But there are no two whole numbers that add to make 17, while having a difference of 12.....try some
1+13= 14, 2+14= 16, 3+15 = 18
