Bush didn't F*CK his fellow servicemen for his own political gain. Read the transcript from the Dick Cavett show, it should be all you need to know.

Thanks for the thumbs down, everyone. By the way, does Bush have his picture in a Hanoi museum with a caption "Hero of the People" under it? Kerry does.

The distinguished Mr. Hill above overlooks the fact that Kerry was lying through his teeth.

Ever think about how many servicemen left Vietnam early under the "three purple hearts" rule? Not very many. Why is that? Well, a number of reasons. One is that most people that got wounded learned to duck next time. Another is that most people that got wounded enough to justify a purple heart spent time in the hospital. And another is that many people that earned it didn't receive it for years.

The reason people always prod Kerry about his war record is that he's a total fake.

That's why - the right wing needed to distract the voters from the fact that the Democrats' candidate was a war hero (one who specifically asked to go to the combat zone) while the Republicans' candidate was an alcoholic deserter.

Wouldn't you just once like to see some sign that the Republicans care even the slightest bit about the United States? Other than Chuck Hagel and John McCain, I don't think there's a Republican patriot in the entire country.

Kerry's contribution to ending the Vietnam war was greater than the alleged disrespect he may have brought upon some veterans. Those remarks are overplayed, and have been distorted 30 years after the fact through an extremely partisan lens. PRIOR to the 2004 election, had you ever heard that Kerry caused problems for returning veterans in the 1970's ? US troops were under extreme pressure in this guerrilla war and in fact there were massacres of civilians and unauthorized incursions into Laos. The youth movement, with its mistrust and even hatred for guys with crew cuts and anyone over age 30, graphic stories about war atrocities, and drug abuse by the troops themselves, contributed much more to the problems of the returning vets than any stray remark by Kerry to a late night TV audience.

Bush may have avoided serving in Vietnam, but he didn't stab is fellow servicemen in the back.

Notice not too many talks about Clinton being a draft dodger.

There is a big difference in avoiding service and serving in a dishonorable way.

It is rather amazing, don't you think, how the conservatives manage to twist and delude themselves into believing all the tripe that was circulated by their smearmeisters? It is really quite astounding. Just look at some of the previous answers to your question and it is obvious how they turn black to white, up to down, backward to forward, etc. One could present facts to them until the Sun goes supernova, and they would simply continue to cite falsified information with smirks on their faces. It stumps me whether they actually believe it or not in their heart of hearts. It just goes to show, you can fool some of the people all of the time.
