Yup, those wouldn't be my ideal jobs.... but they are still jobs chosen by the individual.
If it were slavery, it would be a job forced upon them with no way out.
It is interesting the different forms of drudgery that people will undertake to make a living. I respect those who will work honorably for what pay they can get, as opposed to those who resort to Welfare (if they are able to hold a job, that is) or illegal means to earn a living. Often, service jobs can be rewarding, or the higher end service workers receive a good salary. Or the jobs are transitional. It takes all types of people.
I am sure that there are still forms of slavery in society today, they just wouldn't include blue-collar service jobs.

Slavery is the state of being bound in servitude as the property of a slaveholder or household.
People choose to serve, this isn't slavery. It is a career.
We all serve one way or another. Am I a slave because I make my husbands dinner and wash his clothes? Is he a slave because he works the hours he is told to? We aren't slaves as we do it by choice and can stop at any time.
Also, it the reason most proffessionals get driven isn't due to laziness. The travel great distances, and by having a driver it enables them to work on the road. They gain hours more work time by having a drive, it is a sensible option. They take phonecalls on the road, or work remotely. This is also why the upgrade their flights - to enable the to keep working.

Thanks for your serious concerns. Actually money is device for a remote sensing slavery. 100 percent resources are in the grip of market. No one can live without facing market forces. Those who are not interested in playing with market forces and forced to live life are slave. Since more than 85 percent natural resources are under control of less than 15 percent people and more than 85 percent people has no right on natural resources without currency. Can u imagine how many people are slave in the age of science and tech. Brain power is being replaced by computer and muscle power is being replaced by machine. Only the owner of the machines and computer and some operator thereof has right to live. Rest are ...

No, they are not slaves because the are volunteering to do this job and are being paid for it, if that was the case then nearly every job would be considered being a slave, waitresses, air hostesses, cleaners, street sweepers, nurses etc.

I don't think you can call it slavery if people are being paid for their services! If that were the case, ANYONE who works for someone else would be termed a slave!

The cases you've mentioned do not qualify as slaves. They are paid for their services and are free to leave whenever they are ready for it. Slavery is when you work for someone without remunerations and not allowed to leave even if unsatisfied. If you thought them slavish then there is not a single job where you are totally free.
