You're not the only one worried. I look at all the first years at my university and they have gotten really dumb. One had the gall to ask if he actually had to show up to class on the first day of the semester. On top of that, there is now an 11 point difference in the score required when I got into my degree 3 years ago and the score to get in now. Looks like they're taking just about anyone. You have to wonder what this next generation will be like.

No question is a perfect question and no answer is a perfect answer. Actually the terms like idiots, dumb and ignorant etc are comparative terms. Question and answers are measured by participants surrounding. Some times it seems the question is from quite base of pyramid of wisdom and person willing to answer is positioned at the top of pyramid of wisdom, this is the reason why question arise like here.

What makes you think that 40 years ago there weren't just as many idiots?
This is globalisation. You get access to stupid answers as well as clever ones.

Don't forget about the pre-teens asking how to run away without being caught or the other ones asking "how to make a boy like them..."
*sigh*

Yeah, that's a pretty good question. At least they have to do tests/exams on their own, so they will have to learn the material if they want to pass the test.

If they're too lazy/thick to do their homework I doubt they will get in to positions of power...
...George W managed it though didn't he?
