Kay so last week I started writing a novel about a 23 year old lesbian named Hyacinth who makes her living off her parent's money and attempting to become a lesbian pulp fiction writer in the late 1940s. She's mostly blind which plays only a small part. When we meet her shes in a publisher's office. She's trying to convince him to take her work. He refuses, unless she makes the women in her story named Hortencia and Amethyst suffer some horrible fate. She has developed such a close relationship with them that she talks to them and they talk back. She tells them what the man says. They can't decide
what to do, whether to trust Hortencia and Amethyst's judgment or not so she puts the work to the side. She ends up meeting the right woman and pretty much gives up writing her book. When she dies in the 80's her adopted daughter finds her book and she gets it published happy ending and all. Too stereotypical?

I've never really read a lesbian novel (apart from Tipping the Velvet), so I can't comment on whether or not it's 'stereotypical' ... but I really like it. It sounds really cute and interesting. Good luck!

So if somebody says 'Yes, it is too stereotypical' are you going to drop it? It is unhealthy to rely on the response of others. Follow your own imagination and mind. Ironically, the story itself should be a lesson...and the answer to you. Or will you wait until somebody finds YOUR book?

You have an amazing mind !!!
The best thing you could do is to keep up the writing, protect that mind from any kind of harm .. you could have a great career..
Good luck!!

I think that sounds like a rather promising story, I'd certainly read it. Her characters' names seem pretty odd, though. I like the idea of the author literally talking with her characters.

Go for it. Sounds really good to me, though I don't read lesbian fiction so I don't know how typical it is.

Follow your dream, you clearly have a creative mind. Good luck.

I'm assuming that this is somewaht the summary of the story...try adding some twisting fate or stories to make it not too typical if you think that this is typical..

A little... but everything typical can be extraordinary depending on the presentation... Just don't miss out on the details...

No. It sounds good. But this comes from the guy who wants to do the gay version of jackass. So please take grain of salt with answer.

P.S. Write the book.
