Is this budget just sleight of hand and more tax rises await us in the detail ?

Of course it is.

Basic rate of income tax goes down from 22p to 20p, but the low rate of 10p is abolished. If you're earning reasonably well, you get a tax CUT, but if you're at the bottom end of the spectrum you get a tax RISE.

He seems to think that we're stupid enough to ignore the abolition of the bottom rate and cheer about the cut in the basic rate at the same time as ignoring the fact that this is his last budget before he goes into No. 10.

On income tax AND on corporation tax, Gordon Brown has stolen from the poorest to bribe the wealthiest, then taken all that back from them with other useless, so called 'green' taxes.

This is a dark and misleading parody of the worst old greedy tory budgets, a foul morally bankrupt, sham of fiscal ineptitude. He managed to sound generous and kind, but without actually giving anything to anyone, unless you are one of the legion of pen-pushers in the state apparatus or you are engaged in massive, mass murder overseas.

More money for killing people with darker skins, more money for pen pushers. Nothing for immigration control, nor was there any responsible policy on the massively mounting debt burden of individuals.

It was an appalingly in-your-face display of immoral, dishonest cynicism.

The sooner that there is a general election the better.
