He started his career in 1988 by appearing in the television series Fauji playing the role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai. He then played a minor role in the serial Circus in 1989. which depicted the life of circus performers. That same year he had a minor role in the television film In Which Annie Gives it Those Ones.
After the death of his parents Khan moved from New Delhi to Mumbai for a fresh start in 1991. He made his Bollywood film debut in Deewana (1992) which was a hit and launched his career in Bollywood..

Robot was much better in terms of story/screenplay, the scientific background (due to contribution from writer Sujatha, who is arguably the best science writer in Tamil) and VFX. Most of the critics have rated Ra.One's VFX as better than Krrissh, but far behind Robot. In Ra.One, the first half is really silly - Shah rukh trying to be a tamilian and failing miserably. And, those really corny double entendres just make you cringe in your seats! In all, SRK can come nowhere close to legend Rajinikanth and Anubhav Sinha's Ra.One can come nowhere close to master director Shankar's Endhiran (Robot)
