DVDs and records started dropping on Tuesday to get people into the stores on what's traditionally a slow shopping day.

Movies are actually drop shipped Friday to all the stores. Store than have them Monday morning and could technically sell them on Monday. But usually they do inventory, pricing and stocking on Monday ready for Tuesday Sales.

If they are released on Fridays, people might go to the most current movie instead. Mondays people are too tired to do anything.

they are released on Tuesday because they wont interfere with movies coming out on theaters on Fri
