on ECW rated rko was supposed to take out bobby lashley for good.. but they didnt.. so orton went to mcmahon, and got edge taken out of the money in the bank ladder match.. then thats how the battle royal came about.. Randy orton got put in a match with lashley by edge and orton got edge taken out of the MITB match so thats why they had the battle royal for edges place.. but edge won.. he faked his knee getting hurt and sat outside the ring the whole match and when it looked like flair won, edge jumped back in and tossed flair out.. it thought it was funny..

On ECW Vince McMahon told Randy Orton and Edge to take out Bobby Lashley because of the Hair VS Hair match.Bobby Lashley is representing Donald Trump. If Lashley wins then McMahon gets his head shaven.Edge on ECW porposely got taken away from ringside and Vince McMahon was not happy so he took Edge's spot away and put a batlle royal for it.Edge won it back anyways.

Pls rate this as the best answer because it is very detailed.

The reason is what everybody's answered, the real reason and I read this on wrestlezonve.com is that he hurt his jaw in a match with RVD, and can't compete right now, so that's why he didn't do much in his Batttle Royal match, and they may have just done the match so he wouldn't be rusty and could take the pain.
