Yes this is normal for a baby. When she gets older (crawling, walking stage) She will start losing her baby fat!

I am so busy with my 5 kids (all under 8 years old!) and I hate exercising and dieting, life's too short! So I thought the only option for getting rid of my ugly cellulite was to book in with a set of weekly medical roller treatments. Job done.

However, they cost me a monstrous $3000 and, you guessed it, did absolutely nothing. I couldn't believe it. It left me thoroughly depressed.

I saw this info on the web and I gave it a go, what did I have to lose now! And, my god this is genius. Quick and easy. I feel so wonderful in my new, smooth, renewed figure! I am a yummy mummy now!

Does your friend have body image problems of her own? It's perfectly normal for a newborn to be a little chubby. Ever hear of "baby fat?" 9-10 lbs is a perfectly normal weight and she has nothing to worry about. Please tell her not to worry about it. And if she's so worried about a 10 week old's "cottage cheese" thighs, maybe she needs to examine her priorities. I would hate for that child to grow up always being scrutinized for her weight.

I cannot express in any words the importance of stressing to your friend how normal it is and how critical it is not to think of the baby having "anything". (They are not "mad" at you or "upset" WITH YOU at this age. They are just existing with very very basic needs.) The emotions (or lack of healthy ones they learn from watching and copying as they grow up.)

Babies are not done growing their brain until they are about 1 years old-their immune system(the thing to keep them from getting sick) is also not done until around one. Extra weight can actually help if they were sick and not keeping food down.

They need to be fed ON DEMAND-usually about every two hours. My children were extremely "ripply" up until 1 1/2 or 2 and again around 10-12yrs. The weight falls off when they begin to walk. (It makes sense if you think about it.) Keep the baby in a calm, peaceful, well fed, warm environment with as much physical - non-sexual affection as possible - no name calling or jokes about anything related to them as a person and you will do better than most. (I also heard that they become most of the names they are called - so I called all of mine Dr. Susie, Dr. Bobbie, Dr. Steve (ex. names) so far it is going okay.

Don't be afraid to say you have no idea how to raise kids. I tell mine all of the time - I have to find it from a credible resource (parenting book, their doctor - who I called many a times - a nurses hotline). If they say yes - I say yes. If they say no - I say no. Then it isn't on me. It is on the expert who specializes in children.

Thank you so much for asking the questions. They are so critical to healthy child development.

Alomst everyone has cellulite, at least a little bit. It is almost impossible to get rid of all of it. And yes babies have it as well. There is nothing you can do about it, unless you plan on putting a baby on a treadmill. Why would someone even care if there baby had cellulite? What is the big deal?

your friend is crazy. her baby weighs just fine for a 10 week old. My daughter weighed 10 lbs when she was born. I don't think that babies can get cellulite.

Tell your friend to have her head checked first.
Her baby is a normal baby, that's why it's called baby fat. That is how babies should be.

My son was 8 lbs at birth

Your friend is silly! If she is that concerned why not ask the Pediatrition?? Babies are suppose to gain weight its a sign of a healthy child. If her child wasn't gaining weight then I would worry. Most babies also have fatty parts of their body and they grow out of it. Her child isn't going to look like a supermodel baby!

That's perfectly normal on a baby. They are just naturally like that. She will start to slim down when she begins to become more active.
