I never understand why people do this when months later the the console is either less than half price or being given away with a mobile phone on contract. Is it like going to see a film on the day its released.

I don't queue, I preorder and get them delivered to my house. I just like to get them early.
You could say the same about films, whats the point in buying it on dvd when you can just wait until its on tv and watch it for free.

its good to have a hobby and be passionate about something and for some people its video games. if someone wants to queue for 2 days to ensure they get their hands on something they have been waiting months for, i think thats ok.
