Well the games i play does help a lot which u might find helping your child. Firstly, i play runescape and it helps me a lot. U might get bored when u first started, but then later u train to higher lvl, learn the technics to survive, learn the different foods, and many more! I learned lots of new countries like florida, nederlands, madagascar, ireland and many more! I also actually met an arabian guy and learn arab language which i am weak on. It also teaches lots of different types of ore and the way u smelt them which is science. Making new friends, doing quest and challenge people is very challenging which helps the mine to focuse on a target.
Now comes to my all time favourite game. Gunz. This doesnt help that much as runescape but it is for teens like me. First an for most, it will help your hands to have lots of muscle as playing gunz requires lots of wrist movement. It also helps in being accurate so that u can take shooting courses next time and there is even more to find out. Well hope this helps.

All depends on lots...
What kind of game, HOW LONG DO THEY PLAY...
Some educational games may be good for interaction, and for hand eye coordination. Some probably help with problem solving and figuring out how things work. Have you ever watched a kid play their first video game, not so easy for them. I hear the hand eye thing lots. But yeah, some game to teach kids swearing etc is not good, as I am sure you know.
Games should have a place in kids life I think, they are kids after all, but again, limit.
Too much of anything makes the butt big and the mind lazy.

I believe it does. i did a report on this very subject last year in school. video games are proved by multiple studies to make our brains better. the improve our Hand - Eye coordination, Logical puzzle solving skills, and reaction speeds, among other things. i hope this helps you out with your question. you can also search on google for tests that have been done to prove these theory's.

YES it does,
It not just gives your child the brains, it improves memory, teaches a lot of stuff.... but the best part is reflexes
It builds the hand eye coordination...Your child will be sharp if he plays games...But don't make him an addict...there are negative effects too :)

depends on the game.
such as Age of Empire missions teach you about the history of Joan of Arc, the Roman Empire, The Crusades, Attila the Hun, and a few others.
other than education it does help with coordination, and teamwork in some cases. but dont expect anything past a few history facts, coordination and teamwork, and a few smart phrases

most games which are fast paced increase dexterity. plus if u give a person a game with a difficult obstacle for eg: a room full of bad guys and limited ammo. it makes the child think about how he//shes going to kill all of em (well he/she'll only start thinking about it once they die a couple of times) strategy games often teach children about life and can be used to for example emulate a sort of buisness sense.

It depends on what games you're playing if you're trying to increase your smarts.
But it is a proven fact that gaming helps with hand/eye coordination, reflexes and problem solving skills at any rate.
