i will only be pro divorce for 1 reason only and that is when the other partner is physically hurt the other person, and nothing else. for me 2 person marry each other not just because they love each other but also because they know that they can and will do everything to make that marriage work. i find it stupid when people divorce because of incompatibility, hello? that is why people date; to get to know each other and to decide if their going to continue their relationship. divorce makes people not think hard getting into marriage, it makes people complaisant that if thing go wrong they can easily divorce and it also makes married people cheat on their partner because they can easily get a divorce. i'm not saying that divorced people did not suffer but i guess their suffering is not enough. NO TO DIVORCE

For :Philippine is a country with most of the people as believers. A god fearing couple will never be prompted to break the wedlock. If the God has decided a union of a man and a woman, it is our duty to maintain it. Divorce is not a solution. It becomes a problem. People will be more unfaithful if they have this option.
Against: Philippine is an advanced country. There is more social interaction. People are prompted to have relations in the very young age. This can result in wrong selection of partners. It is a misery to live with a wrong partner. Legally a divorce will be a solution. A mismatch will try to have illegal extra marital relation. Creating more problems. Legalizing Divorce is a better alternative.

I totally get a kick out of playing devil's advocate. It really makes you think, trying to come up with reasons for something you're totally against. Okay, so, reasons it *shouldn't* be made legal...

#1 To maintain family values for the sake of tradition and cultural identity. (and religion too? use a metaphor, like divorce as a new language that threatens to make a traditional one obsolete)

#2 To encourage young people to wait and be sure they have found the right mate before starting a family. (divorces are messy and upsetting, but so are bad marriages)

#3 To avoid the hardship of single parent families. (harder to make money or find support, no social programs in place, no legal programs in place for child support payments)

One thing I wouldn't argue is that single parent families raise worse children; this is a common misconception. Poverty raises worse children, not the lack of a father figure or a "traditional family structure".

definitely. true, every married couple try to work their marriages (otherwise who would marry at all?) the best & as long as they can but the reality says otherwise... that with the very best of intentions, some marriages are bound to fall out of love and if staying civil especially for the children (if any) will be answered by 'divorce' then please do so. It would be harder to see married couples stick together for the sake of being married but not because of love for each other. No one gets marry with the thought of eventually separating so give the benefit of the doubts. All of us deserves a second chance. There is no guarantee in life that everything are made perfectly. Changes are always a part of living.

hope this helps...

I am agree that divorce will be legalized in the Philippines because some couples in the Philippines are not comfortable in their love life and their children are suffering from their quarrel and there are many case in the Philippines that womens and children are abuse. So, the solution of this problem is DIVORCE....

Divorce should be banned everywhere. When you get married, you say the words "Until death do you part". If you are a person of your word, then you will honor what you say. If you don't then you are pathetic.

ps: a marriage certificate is a legally binding document. Morraly and legally divorce is wrong.

*waits for all the thumbs down. will only get them from people with no morals*
