people that are fans of other teams have their opinions, judgments and dislikes about Dice-K and Theo for how much hes paying him.But honestly some People need to shut up..........Seriously!!!!This guy can pitch, and I'm not just saying that b/c I'm a Red Sox fan, the guy is good.As long as they continue to work w/ him and Tek shows him what pitches to throw when, we may very well see the next Chein-Ming Wang, but in a BoSox uniform.

Having yet to see him pitch, I'm sticking with my original thought of 12-15 wins this first year, but I confess that I'm thinking 15+ may be more likely.
And yes, I see him as the best #3 in the league. There are not many #3s who can give you more than 10 wins, let alone 15 or more.
His #3 status is more a function of the deep (on paper) starting pitching that Boston has assembled. Look at the spring that Gabbard has had, and there's no room for him! I think on many other pitching staffs, Matsuzaka is penciled in as #2.

Being a Boston fan, the expectations are high of Dice-K of course, from talking with other people I have heard the numbers 16, 15, 14 wins this year would be a solid year for him. I think if he wins 12+ it will be success as this is his first year in the big leagues, after the first time facing some of the teams from the AL East they will adjust and he will have to be more crafty with his pitches. I think he's the #2 guy on the staff, of course if Beckett pitches like he's capable then it's a toss up.

Ya know I think at times he might struggle. The pressure Daisuke willl face this year will be tremendous, esp. from Boston fans and the media. Although I think people aren't giving him the benifit of the doubt. He has a mastery of 5-6 pitches. His 2 seam fastball is crazy. And he change of speeds makes him look like a Pedro. Although Pedro by far has had the best changeup in the game of baseball. Im gonna give him
17-18 wins. 200+ ip 3.45 era and a 1.13 Whip.

After another GEM yesterday (5.2 IP, 1 Hit, 1 BB, 7 K) I am going to go out on a limb and proclaim what I've been thinking all along:
Daisuke Matsuzaka in 2007:
19-6
3.08 ERA
1.05 WHIP
221 Innings Pitched
181 Hits
39 BB
215 Strikeouts
AL Rookie of the Year
AL Cy Young Award Winner

I expect Matsuzaka to start off well but struggle later in the year after everyone has had a chance to see him. I'm going to go with a record of 15-10 with an ERA around 4.00. He'll be solid but not outstanding.
Best 3rd in the rotation pitcher is either Pettitte or Mussina (whoever is the 3rd in the Yanks rotation) strictly on experience at this point.

I think it all depends on how he handles being in Boston, We have seen good players come here and not do so well due to the pressures of Boston. So far he seems to be handling the media well so Im gonna guess he wins 14 games.

He will win between 13-17 games this year and will be the third or second best starter on the Sox this year.

Daisuke will dominate the A.L. I think he will be a big star for the red sox. Did you see him 3/21/07 WOW! Talk my advice. Ignore Yankee fans. If you see him pitch it should prove to you how great he is. (the gyro ball is real).

12 to 14 games max due to very good run support. There's a big difference from facing major hitting everyday than those players he faced in Japan. Look for an era of at least 3.70.
