Well it must be pretty old, so make sure it's ok. Personally as en ex metro owner(20 years ago!) I would say a Micra is better. Mine is almost 8 years old and is without a doubt the most reliable car I've ever owned, and just as cheap to run. The only trouble with owning one is finding it amongst the 500 others in a supermarket car park!

Better to go for Rover Metro if you can - build quality was slightly better. As for whether you're sad or mad - if that's what you can afford to buy then who am I cast any aspersions, at the end of the day a car is a means of getting from A to B.

Some times a bad ride is better than a good walk especially if its raining.Buy what you can afford who knows it may be a Ferrari next time.
