Teething. Try some baby orajel. If he is running a fever, take him to the doctor.

If you worry that he is sick then give him attention and go to his room, but do not leave his bedroom! Stand next to the bed and sing a song for him for example, then Putt him back in his bed and leave. Do this again after a a minute or so. When my son was 7 months I sometimes needed to go back 5 times, but since he is 11 months I pu t him to bed and he goes to sleep, no complaining at all. When my son was that young I couldn't let him cry for long, but I never broke the rule to take him out of his bedroom. Also leave the light off. Good luck and don't forget most kids have hard time falling asleep, it takes a lot of patience.

I would have to say he is teething. I am going through the same thing at this exact moment. I have been letting her fuss a little & then I go & check on her without letting her see me. She has been like all day, even with her naps. But she finally gave in for nap time & went to sleep. With the hard stool, I have to give my little one alittle juice everyday to help keep her stools soft (for the fiber I guess). Usually when she gets the hiccups, she gets to juice to make them go away. For some reason though, I'm thinking the hard stools could be related to the teething, not for sure though. Goodluck with the teething...if that's what it is, I'm already ready for the little suckers to break through!

Your son is playing a game with you! Usually kids who are teething drool a lot, are cranky throughout the day(not just at bed time), get loose stools, and run a low grade fever(although any professional will tell you they don't, they do both mine did) If you think its teething give him some motrin or tylonal to help ease the pain or better yet try Orajel for babies! The night time formula works better than the regular. good luck! teething time bites!

This is his little game, I cry, mummy comes running.
Let him cry for a bit. The panadol will help him to settle once it kicks in. It will also help with the sneezing and running nose more than what a cold medicine for infants, will do.
You are nearby, you can tell if the cry is for pain or just boredom.
He will soon learn that mummy is not going to come running every time he cries and will learn to settle himself to go to sleep.

There is nothing wrong with holding him and rocking him to sleep.. POOH POOH on all the nay sayers. Babies are babies and need a mothers touch. Night lights are no replacment for a mothers arms at night.
It won't seem like long and your lottle baby will be a big boy and no longer care about hugging mommy all the time why not hug him now.

The lumps could be teeth coming through. He is obviously not too distressed or unwell if he is laughing when he sees you. Sounds to me like he is playing games with you. When babies aren't feeling great, I think they want their mums more then anything. Have an early night, and put him in bed with you.

Maybe he just wants some comfort. If he has lumps on his gums, he's probably teething. If your nursing, just put him in bed with you, let him nurse and be near you and I am sure he'll be content. It works for me!

It sounds like he just wants to play. If you go in his room and he is laughing! If he is in pain, he'd still be crying when you went in the room. He is just trying to get your attention!
