Is it ethical to ask her, what kind of sports or hobbies did she enroll her children to? Or talk about how tied you were at your office job. Or the organizations in which you are a member

it is unethical to ask these questions to a poor struggling person. Not only we demoralize them, but we also lower down their self-esteem.
Though our intentions are to encourage them to strive harder and be like us,we could use a different approach.

This can work out fine...
But only, if this person "trusts you"....
If you don't know this person... you have to try to "gain" her friendship and trust.......If she lets you in her life, your halfway their...
