Have you ever fallen UP?? Thats why we say we fall DOWN. Gravity acts on all matter. Rain is a complex by product of our ecology. Water condenses when the temperature of the air gets low enough to become saturated. This is called dewpoint. In a violent thunderstorm the water vapor will become droplets and bounce up and down in the thermals created by the cumulonimbus clouds. If the upper air is cold enough we call it hail because the droplets have frozen before they get heavy enough to fall. What is the difference in rain and snow?? Think about it.

Simply, the sun causes water to evaporate and rise. When it rises it forms as in the clouds, as the clouds hold more water vapors it becomes heavier, until it can no longer hold it. Then it turns back to a liquid, because of the temperatures, and falls back to earth.
The cloud colors show how much water they are holding. The darker they are, the more water they are holding within them.

It does Both. Clouds are made of water, and if it always fell from the clouds and never up to the clouds, there would eventually be no clouds!

Gravity keeps it moving down if the water were in space that would be a different story. The water wouldnt even form a cloud

the rain doesn't fall Up is because it's already gone Up and is coming back Down. Because when it's a hot, hot day, the heat absorbs the water which is called (i forgot). well the water's from the ocean. and then it rains again. thats the cycle of rain.
what kids think- the rain is sad and cries (not true)

Rain is born in the clouds. When water vapor condenses, it falls as rain.

Gravity. Water goes up and forms clouds as water vapour which is lighter than air, but falls as a liquid due to gravity, similar as water falls from a shower head.

Because rain falls down like the London Bridge which doesn't fall upwards. Things naturally fall down--even angels from heaven fall down to hell--not fall up to the highest heavens.
