Positive effects: concentration, self confidence, impression of being alert, aware, feeling of well being, impression that time flies, euphoria...
Negative: feeling horribly depressed the next day even two days after so you want take more to stop feeling depressed, kills the serotonin neurotransmitters, I still have scars from scratching myself... and I stopped using amphetamines two years ago.
To tell you the truth, If I hadn't ended up wanting to kill myself, I would still be on amphetamines. I loved it, because I just felt like I was the best woman in the world when I was high. I felt motivated, concentrated, aware of things.... I'm normally a lazy person, but on amphetamines, I wasn't at all!
Good luck!

Never taken speed. Had asthma as a child and the medication was somewhat like speed. I hated the shaky feeling it gave me. I don't do caffeine for the same reason.
What about all the freakin' energy drinks on the market, they're legal, but I think people still get addicted to them!
Doing anything in excess, or requiring the use of any product can be addictive. I think that it has more to do with a person's personality that they get addicted - the chemical gives them a feeling that they cannot get on their own - I have always had a "natural high", and doing drugs actually makes me feel worse than I do sober...
Hope this gives you some food for thought for your project.

I don't take speed, but trust me when I say that if your are ever presented with the opportunity you should turn it down.
If you are writing an essay and want some info, just watch the television show "Cops".
That's all it is most of the time, people who get busted with crystal meth or crack.
Or you could go to your local ghetto and take in the lovely ladies who walk the street and sell their body because they want to get high so bad.
