My experience has shown me that social conservatives believe they are the only ones who hold traditional values. I am a liberal. I am a registerd Green Party member and in 2000 I voted for Gore and in 2004 for Kerry. The values I grew up with are:
1.Judge a person as an individual not as a member of the group they belong to.
2. Love your neighbors as your self.
3. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
4. Don't steal.
5. Don't cheat.
6. Take all the food you want but eat all you take.
7. Share with others.
8. Solve your problems with your words not your fists.
9. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the Earth.
10. The government is best that governs least.
11. Religion is a matter of individual conscience.
12. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's.
13. Don't start any trouble but defend yourself when attacked.
14. Defend truth and justice.
15. Help the poor, visit the sick.
16. Be honest.
How are these not traditional values?

Those are rather genral I suppose.

Take a look at this list: http://www.gurusoftware.com/GuruNet/Social/Topics/Values.htm

it deals with the values of society and the social values are a bit or even rather different from the personal values. It doesn't make you or then better, that are only the different parts of the life you focus on.
