I have a smeg slimline dishwasher, and evertime i put a load on (normally for 150mins) the top drawer does not clean well at all.

All the glasses, mugs etc have thick hard dots (looks a lot like little bits of weetabix) Its very dry and i need to scub them to get them clean?

I use all finish products. Has anyone experienced anything like or similar with their dishwasher? How on earth do I fix it or stop ot from doin it.

Thanks

Yes, what you have to do is empty the diswasher out completely and take out the trays. At the bottom of the dishwasher you should see your filter that catches all the big pieces of food and rubbish. Clean this out every few days.

Now there should be a spinning arm under the top tray, if you can detach it you should see little holes in it that spray the water. You will probably find if you run water through it, that one or more are blocked. Get what you can out, this is tricky and takes a while. I once found some plastic blocking it up.
You can also do the bottom arm as well, just in case.

Finally buy a dishwasher cleaner, and run it through, they are only about £3.

Try not to have too much food on your dishes when you wash them, especially things like pasta and rice, because it leaves a starch residue on glasses and plates. Don't let food debris sit in your cutlery basket, as this will do the same.

Good luck

You need to remove the water spinner that sprays the water over the top shelf. You will find that the holes to let the later out are blocked. Leave each end to soak in soapy water and try and pick the stuff out with a sharp knife. Bang the spinner gently on the side of the sink to dislodge the food. Do the same for the other end. Egg shell and rice really blocks the dishwasher. Be sure that our scrape the plates well before putting them in the dishwasher.
