Folks don't marry for a few reasons...afraid of marriage and feeling tied down, afraid partner will change and become controlling, they just don't value marriage and because its too much trouble to go through a divorce.

Folks don't stay married because they are unhappy because they chose the wrong partner or the spouse changed.
Many people give up too easily and just call it quits instead of working through issues or they look outside the marriage and cheat only to end up in divorce.

Things were always like this, strife between man and woman. It just happens its never been easier and more acceptable to get a divorice now, than at any other time in history. The respect and sacrifice for marrige has also left society.

Simply put, we don't need each other anymore, so why stay is your not completely happy.

I agree with Janko. They either won't or can't accept responsibility. Alot of people are also too young to get married. Not just in age, but also in maturity. I am divorcing a 30 year old who still needs his momma. But then they both need shrinks.

I believe that many people go into marriage with unrealistic expectations of how a marriage is or should be, particularly younger people who lack maturity and life experience.
These unrealistic expectations leads to major disappointments.
I think it is really important to discuss one's expectations with partner before marriage. Eg: It's really important to know that while you want a large family, your husband to be only wants one.
I think many ppl lack good communcation skills too, and without the ability to express their wants, needs and concerns will surely lead to problems.
When problems arise in a marriage sometimes spouses retreat from each other, rather than trying to resolve issues. I think that sometimes there is selfishness involved and one is not willing to compromise.

Just my opinion.

It's because people are impatient and hurry up and find someone to marry instead of slowwing down and waiting for the right person.

My guess is that they don't take the time to really get to know each other and its a rude awakening when the truth be known and they have already married.

People have not learned the value of loyalty.
Deep and meaningful love is not about passion and sexual desire, yes the whole world portrays that as "love" and so when that spark cools people think it's time to move on.
