Music NEVER influences people to do anything. People who blame music or anything other than bad parenting are looking for a scapegoat because they can't accept the fact that they WILLINGLY made a mistake.

I think they're talking shite, especially with regard to rock and metal.
Music reflects the mood and social status of those that listen to it - not the other way round.
I don't understand and don't like Gangsta Rap.........but then I'm a white middle-aged, middle-class(ish) bloke, so this music is not aimed at me. I have listened to it and it didn't inspire me to dash out and do a drive-by shooting at McDonalds. Nor do I think it inspires anyone else to do this.....anyone who does will already be predisposed to do so, because they will come from that particular background.
Rock and metal has been around for a long, long time and I don't see any difference in those who listen to it now to those who listened to it years ago. Back in the 60s the Hells Angels were busily roughing up people, and now you have the nutcases in Scandinavia doing the same thing. These are the radical edges though - most people are normal, relatively law-abiding folk who just happen to enjoy blowing their ear-drums to pieces. Plus ca change.

I would say no. Music is not responsible for our actions. It cna evelualte our heart due to the rythm, but as far as ,making people kill and such no. I listen to all kinds of music, some lryics I do not agree with, but because a song says something like kill someone, I don't do it.
Another way it might influence us, is there are songs that bring memories on, so in that way yes. So yes and no. It can influence but not to a point to blame music for the reason you did something illegal or hurt someone.

well. i dont think music makes u do stuff u will regret. it might it depends on what kind of person u are. i listen to rap/hip-hop/r&b but i dont really think it influences me to do bad things. music is just a way of people expressing themselves. u can learn a lot about a person just seeing what they listen to. i love my music and i think it influences me in a good way. it makes me see that success is possible. u can go from being no body to being someone who everybody knows about. u can go from having nothing to having everything youve always wanted!

i think it depends more on the person... if you will let yourself be influenced by music or not.... you can always control yourself... it's you who will decide what you wanna happen in your life... not the music... music is just an instrument that is created to inspire people, and to let other people express their feelings, but not to dictate people what to do...

even though we listen to various things we dismiss some of them as they mayn't apply to our life. i listen to a lot of violent and angry rap music but my whole entire life time i ave never slugged any one or shot anyone so i guess it gets back to applicability and personality

Music is a powerful tool, but I don't believe it makes us do anything we didn't already plan or want to do.

everyone's different.
just take a step back all the time and think..."it's only music, it's only a sound"
you're in control of everything you do.
