I think marriage gets this label because people are rushing into relationships these days. People get married before they are ready, and the idea of marriage is about a lasting relationship built on mutual trust and understanding. People that run out and get married too quickly end up with a bitter taste in their mouth about marriage.
My marriage is great, so I can't say that the institute is dead. I just think that it has gotten a bad rep from people who rush into it.

No. I just think a combination of the media and rising divorce rates have made marriage look like a bad deal. People in the U.S. often times lack a good model of what a marriage should be. It is too often nowadays to hear of a couple splitting up to easily. I think a lot of people who get married early do not know what they are really getting into when they say "i do" only to end the commitment in under 5 years. Its not dead, its just changing.

No; I do not agree. Marriage as in institution is very much alive; it is the participants who lack the emotional maturity to make it work.
Once you realize that you have what it takes to sustain a long term relationship, marriage is nothing but a minor detail. A significant one, but minor.
The problem is not with marriage; it's with the people who attempt it but are not prepared.

No, marriage is not "dead". I don't know where you get that idea. Yes, the divorce rate is pretty high but for everyone that divorces, there is another couple that stays together.
