The only difference is that you will have to apply as a transfer student when you have enough credit at your hand, which is normally about 60 units or 2 years worth of study. After you transfer to a "real college" as you call, you may find that you are not behind at all as these traditional students. If you happen to live in a state with a guaranteed transfer admission such as California, you are guaranteed transfer with a 2.8 GPA. You should talk to a transfer advisor at you CC because not all classes as transferable.
