I have had the 3 yr implant which made me feel like **** - also i gained about 10kg, so i ripped it out myself - my doctor told me to try the vaginal ring that you insert every month - this sounds a little weird - can you feel it - what happens when you have sex? Can it fall out? Does it cause weight gain?

It's a plastic ring that you have to insert once a month. It costs about $30 a month. You take it out and insert it yourself but you need a prescription for it.
It's pretty convenient in the sense that you don't need it inserted like an IUD.
I've been using it for about 2 weeks and lets just say that it took a bit of practice to insert but once its in place, you can't feel it. I haven't had any side effects to speak of so far, but i must admit even though i can't feel it, i feel a little weird knowing i've got a little piece of plastic in my vagina.
Hmm.
It can't fall out and you or your partner can't feel it when you have sex. Your vaginal muscles keep it inside, like a tampon but i have no idea how it stays in and is not felt during sex, but thats the case.
I'd give it a try if i were you though. I've never had any adverse reactions to the pill or anything and it sounds like you might have, so its worth a go. If you find you don't like it, take it out yourself.
