I know you can get a clean cut BELOW the rim with the right type of can opener. Check places like LINEN & THINGS, WALMART, ETC...Like the previous person mentioned, make sure the pressure is gone out of the containers before attempting something like this....

Please take no offense at this, but why not just purchase one? I also note in this you may have seen the one Jurrasic park movie with the Barbasol can as a tool for theft?

One major issue I think of is the opening of a soda can to release the fluid/pressure/ and carbonation. Then the construction of the can itself being so thin as to not be able to adequately reattach the top, or construct a threaded device under the top to "Screw" back into the can. I've cut tops off many for making can candles.

Similar issues might arise with the shaving cream can, and its ingredients being even more pressurized. On that note I don't currently shave, but I find most aerosol cans never deliver everything. They either run out of air first, or the valve clogs.

Finally and again with no offense, where would you keep either? Obvious places would be the bathroom medicine cabinet of the refrigerator/pantry. To have a soda or shaving creme can sitting on a bookshelf or night table might be more than a bit obvious in their placement?

I'll check back though, to see what answers you do get.

I agree with the first response to just buy one. If not DON'T cut into an aerasol can. Just the pop can along the top edge with a sharp razor knife. You may never be able to cut without crimping the can. I've seen these safes at hardware stores, drugstores and Wal-marts.

Check your local smoke/ head shops, they usually have these things for sale and under $20 if they aren't in it for the money.
-try this site if you don't mind ordering them.
