i take offense at you classing all of us men the same!
the guys that use women as a punch bag are the scum of the earth!
there is and always will be no excuse for doing what has been described in the question!
sadly as to why the scam do this is probably because they grew up with the male role model in their life beating up on there mom or female carers and so consider it normal. it is not normal and it is not acceptable.
( i may be talking bo**ox above, but having grown up in an abusive home, i made it a priority NOT to go the way of my father in that respect)
you need to remember that not every guy is as bad as the one you are now safely away from (thank god he did not kill you).
good luck to you in all your future relationships!

"SOME" men and WOMEN might I add have underlying issues that need resolved form childhood or early on in life. Anger is one of them, drugs could be another, seeing the way that their parents were treated is another, self-esteem is another, there are very many reasons... But it is not right to allow ourselves to feel that he or she that is getting abused deserves it in any way!! YOU!! are not the problem. And staying in the relationship only allows the abuser to further think that it is not a problem. They will never seek help without a reason to seek it.
I am very happy to hear that you got yourself away from this person. I can only wish that more people were like you.
Good Luck in all your future relationships!!

There are lots of reasons, but none of them make it ok. Drinking has that effect on lots of people - instant a**hole, just add alchohol. Some men feel empowered by dominating someone else; some men feel like their life is out of control, so they must control something (someone) else; some men are cowards who only feel strong when they are beating down someone else...again, none of these reasons make it ok. You can feel sorry for men with this problem, but that doesn't mean you have to allow that behavior. No one, male or female, ever has to take abuse from anyone, especially someone that supposedly loves them. I hope you got out and stayed out - don't let anyone beat you again! No matter who you are or what you do, you deserve better than that.

They do not have any right to do that. Now he has no rights at all in your eyes because you very wisely have ended it ,they don't always need drink to be violent because it is in their nature to behave like that.for whatever reason .Sometimes they come from abusive family units and they carry on abusing people outside their family enviroment. It would be useful if you could ask him why he behaved in that way.I think you could counsel yourself to find the answers with a self- help book.Meditate on the fact that he has gone physically ,then banish him from your mental aspect, this will heal you emotionally.Do not let the past hold you back anymore.

some men have grown up in a family were they were beaten themselves, and violence is all they know. some men should not be allowed to drink because alcohol can bring out the abusive side of their nature.
they are twisted in their mind into thinking that it is your fault they are doing this and you need punished.
however you will find that women can be the same when they have drink, i know of many women who have abused their husbands.
it is not that its the mans problem it is to do with drinking and whether they should give it up or not would be the answer to the problems

people that are violent to their partners in a relationship are often losing the grip on their own lives. they try to regain control by controlling their partner. often, its triggered by drugs and alcohol, but also it can be just a mental disorder or even learnt behaviour.
for anyone who is caught up in an abusive relationship, the only answer is to get away. there is no other thing for it, whatever the reasons to stay they are never enough. the minute, one person hits the other, the relationship is doomed

A men who hit a woman is not a men ,how could you leave with him ,don't waste you life ,I guess when he wakes up in the morning he say sorry I'm not gonna do it again ,but you know what its not OK ,he is never gonna change ,he definitely don't love you, because this type of men think that a woman is rubbish, and don't have kids with him .
He could kill you one day ,just walk out of this relationship now before its too late.

I'm still trying to figure that out. I was in a abusive relationship too. On top of that my dad beat the hell out of my mom the whole time I was growing up. I think its just the way they were raised and all the demons they have locked up inside. All I know is I didn't have the time or energy to stick around to find out.

Because they are bullies and cowards. It also gives them a power and control high as they can't or even won't stand up to another man. No man should hit any woman, especially his partner. If you are getting abuse be strong and leave him.
I have been married to my wife for 13 years, together for 15, and I wouldn't dream of laying a hand on her, but most of all I love and respect her, and I think to protect her, never abuse and beat her. Good luck.
