Haha, I never knew until you posted this.
No one could beat he-who-must-not-be-named.
I guess the reason was the whole point of the story.
If the story ended up by he-who-must-not-be-named being defeated, I guess that the wizard world wouldn't be haunted by him anymore. But if he didn't die, he-who-must-not-be-named would be remembered, and so would Harry.
It would be dissapointing for some of the readers if Harry didn't die, because it would be like all of the heroic books they've read, this is a new ending, and it would surprise the readers. Didn't you feel surprised when you heard of this ending?

I don't think that's going to be harry.
the hoped thing never comes true if it is expected too much...
I think it'll be more exciting than the other parts and i die for july 21st to come soon. I also feel sad b'coz it's going to be the last book and there won't be any books.
I think, in the deathly hallows Rowling would reveal that snape is not a death eater and dumbledore told him to do so b'coz of a grand plan to destroy the death eaters(i can say that dumbledore is dead b'coz rowling had already said that in an interview). Snape had done everything without asking anything whatever dumbledore said in the first 6 books. And he abides these words also and so he kills him. I think the flashback will come in book 7 and so it'll be more exciting.
Rowling had told that there will be many deaths in the incoming book. So there is much less possibility for harry and his friends to die. All the death eaters will die, I reckon.

Look, she didn't write these books for "Fans". She wrote these books to tell a story. She's known SINCE SHE BEGAN WRITING THIS SERIES how the last chapter would go. Not all stories have a happy ending, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride.

Just because she made so much money of it and things always end when you have the most fun! I guess it just would get boring after a while. 7 books is way enough! Maybe she has just no more new ideas?

I'd be very disappointed if Harry wasn't killed! It seems like the most sensible way to end the series.
