hi there
i was wandering if its possible with linux.....
i whant to reinstall windows on my laptop but i dont have cd drive..
if u reinstall win xp on desktop pc and then connect that HDD to laptop it will not work (right?)..
is linux same way? if u install it on desktop pc and then connect that HDD to laptop will it work?

the easy way would be to use the Ethernet ports on the two systems and you can install it on the laptop from the desktop( it may take a little longer should be the same but i don't think so)
you should be able to just click on the setup file and when it ask you which drive or partition you want to install it on you will have to select the laptop drive . you may have to make sure it will show up on the desktop in my networks.this is assuming both have Ethernet ports and that you have an network cable . you may also be able to use the usb ports to do this but i am not sure.if you need a partitioning software try this free one Partition Logic ( just google it then download it then the hard drives are probably different sizes ( form factors ) so one will not fit into the other one with out some kind of adaptor or change over cable
