A) 0.016 is read as "Sixteen thousandths"
Therefore, you have 16/1000. Simplifying this, you get 8/500, 4/250, 2/125. So 2/125 is your answer.
B) You have 12.5. This is the same as "twelve and a half." The fractional equivalent for .5 is 1/2. So, the answer would be 12 1/2.
Another approach is to multiply 12.5 by 10/10 to get rid of the decimal and as a fraction. You will get 125/10. Now, you have an improper fraction that simplifies to 12 5/10 or 12 1/2.

(a) 0.016
= 16/1000
= 2/125
(b) 12.5
= 12 5/10
= 12 1/2 you can stop here or...
= [(2 * 12) + 1]/2
= 25/2
the trick to decimals is to watch how many decimal places after the decimal point.
thus
0.3 is three-tenths or 3/10;
0.45 is forty-five hundredths or 45/100 or 9/20;
0.625 is six hundred twenty-five thousandths or 625/1000 or 5/8;
and so on.
good luck

(a) 0.016 = 16/1000 = 2/25
(b) 12.5 = 125/10 = 25/2
For converting decimal figure in to simple fraction , remove decimal and devide the figure with 10/100/ 1000 depending on the number of digits on right side of the decimal then simplify the fraction until it is divisable.

for (a) 16/1000
if you divide 16 by 1000, you´ll get exactly 0.016.
(b) 12 and 1/2 or 25/2
1/2 is equal to 0.5
12 and 1/2 is a mixed fraction because you have a whole number and a fraction, so to make it simple,
12 1/2, you need to multiply 12by2, 12x2=25 plus the numerator 1 will be equal to 25, then carry over the denominator then you´ll have 25/2 equal to 12.5

well all decimals are already in a fraction form when you are remember they are just sums of powers of 10. for example .016 = 16/1000. now reduce.12.5 = 125/10.
