Even Hollywood portrays gay males in that way: the dude from "Will and Grace", Kevin Kline's character in that movie w/ Tom Selleck....

It's a weird thing... just like you can almost always tell if a person is black by their speech.
It's just the way it is.

The "gay accent" ... is not even the way women speak.

I have a lot of gay friends from all over the country and the "accent" is the same!
The vocal inflection is just natural to them.
I wonder if it is like that in other, non-english speaking countries too.

Go to a gay leather bar, that is if you can stand the smell of cigar smoke, boy.

They're full of muscly, hairy leather daddies wearing ripped denim, chains and PVC chaps who speak in gruff, deep voices. They like their sex rough and dirty.

They are in NO way feminine.

In reality, I've never met a woman who talked like that. So I really don't regard it as being feminine. But I do regard it as being repulsive.

those are movie stereotypes....do you really believe that's reality? I have met almost NO gay men that talk that way! there is no "gay dialect."

I don't know, why do some teenagers speak in some god awful ghetto dialect no one that doesn't watch MTV can understand. Rule it off to culture and the scene they involve themselves in.

That's the way they are. As for Hollywood, it's called stereotyping.

A guess would be that they want it known that they are submissive, as opposed to being dominant in a relationship.

did it ever occur to your limited intellect that they can't help it like you can't help the way your voice sounds? Think about it.
