When The British colonised India, India was not an independent country. It was already a colony of the Muslims. India hadn't been an independent country since the Delhi sultanate was established in the 7th century. It wasn't until 1947 that India would end up in the custody of it's true owners - the Hindus.

The funny thing is that India celebrates an independence day from British rule, but we do not celebrate an independence day from Muslim rule. Even though The British ruled India for 90 years whereas the unwanted Muslims ruled India for 13 centuries.

When India became independent in 1947, It was such as much Independent from Islam as it was from Britain.

Do you Agree with me that India should Celebrate an Independence Day from Islamic Rule???

No I am not agree with you.
Looting of Indian wealths by Britishers was too much huge than Mugals.
Mugals kept that wealth in India in their possession but Britishers took it to England. That is only Indian money behind the Power of british pound .Let me say that Mugal were more good than britishers
We fully exploited by Britisher in every field,Mugals were more secular although they had more power without any democracy. So called law people did worst for Indians.
Remember,India fought first war against Britishers in the leadership of Bahadurshah Zafar.
Our Independence is shared by all communities of India.

India celebrates 'Independence of India' not independence from British. As soon as Mughal empire lost it's hold over India, British came in. It's only after 1947, the whole of India attained total freedom. I've read a your previous questions too. Seems you are totally against muslims. Grow up man. Brotherhood is the only way to maintain harmony in the world.

India is the only country with most diversified culture. It's home for Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis, and various sects of Hindus. when we talk about religious freedom, we are not talking about progress, we are talking about creating rifts. Let every Indian have the feeling of Indian-ness irrespective of religion, caste, culture, etc.

And please don't make generalized suggestions based on postings on some forums. If you had gone through the whole forum you would have understood the authencity of the posting there.

All the best...

:-)

If anyone ponder upon this question as an indian citizen, and from historical point of view, he will surely come to conclusion that there are some evidence of "GHULAMI" (SLAVERY) system prevailing during moghul period. Yet people were allowed to live like a family in multycast society of india.(deene Ilahi is symbolic to this thinkig). When British came the slavery system was on the point of deminishing and finally it was abolished from all parts of the world. So the british adopted policy of devide and rule, which they applied and made the indian society their so called slaves. They less bothered about upliftment of the indian society. They built many buildings and influenced the society by the english language and culture in such a way that we are still slaves of their culture and language even when we celebrate 60th independence day.
The real independence and democracy will prevail in the world when all countries however developed of underdeveloped will coperate with each other in all aspects of life, respect every humanbeing irrespective of cast and creed, then the real interdependence day can we celebrate.
lets hope for the best and wish that day come soon.

Celebrating Independence day from British rule is not funny. What do you call independence.Coming out fully from the rule of somebody is called independence. If you study our history carefully, you will get one thing very clear that India was always under some people. Moreover what you call India a country was not existing as one.We are freed fully only after the British left our Nation. Then only the Iron Man of India made our country as one and we started celebrating the Independence.

The British rule over India was despotic, have you forgotten the atrocities committed by them on innocent people at Jalianwalla Baug and other places?Yet inspite of all that we still have a slavish mentality and trying to apease the Brits and Americans. When was there atrocities committed by Muslim rulers?Akbar married Jodhabai ,Tansen and Birbal were honoured at his court.

India is basically a country with unity among all the religions though they are diversified. At times some fundamentalists and rabble rousers or power hungry politicians incite the people to kill each other in the name of religion but in the mainstream of life every one exists and co-operates regardless of their religion.Peaceful co-existence is the main stay of India.

Why provoke people to disturb this peace and harmony?India has all the religions living together in harmony,so why use terms like " Muslim rule " Hindu country?Agreed the majority are Hindus but others are living here and nobody feels that this is a Hindu country so we are aliens or lack the national spirit .Everyone honours the national symbols and call themselves Indians.Have you heard anyone say that I am Hindu Indian,Christian Indian or Muslim Indian? No, we are all Indians and believe in brotherhood, except some exceptions and you seem to be one of them.

When British came to India, it was a country with many separate states.. a bigger part was under Mughal rule..and some parts under local kings, some muslim and other not. However there is a big difference between British rule and Islamic rule over India. In British rule, the head was in Britain, here people were coming on job...job of managing the British colony, while in Islamic rule, the invaders came here and became Indian. They increased their religion through force, married here. So in a sense they adopted India as their country. Then... after many generations, when British came to India and took power in their hands, slowly and in pieces; then even these islamic rulers fought hand in hand with Indian people. Moreover.. we didn't get freedom from Islamic rulers, but the power changed hand from Islamic to British ones! And as such there is no specific date when we got freedom from Muslim rule... So which date do you feel we must celabrate as independence day from Islamic rule????? I feel there is nothing like freedom from islamic rule... or you may say the day when British finally became ruler in india, could be considered as independence day from Islamic rule..

The Muslim rule was passed on to the British. When the British left, it flowed back to the Indians, which means to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians etc.

Because one is a religion, which the individual should be allowed to choose _freely_, the other is a *government*, which INVADED India and took it's political rights? Oh, and of course Christians tried to convert India, makes colonization easier.

How can 'Muslims' overtake a country, if no *political* power is placed in their hands? And if it is, who placed it there?

On Religion: I thought Hinduism can tolerate every god, because it was an accepting religion, where everything had it's place - maybe not being virtuos, but still a part of everything.

And did you know that Hindustic warriors invaded India in the first time, enslaving the native population and forcing them to their beliefs?

Hi,
There is one point that one should see -

How the British and Muslim rulers ruled the country?

Babar / Akbar and many mogul emperors did great work to develop India. India is still proud of Tajmahal which was built by a Muslim.

Al least these Muslims rulers had 25% to develop India and Hindus rest 75% they were interested in development of Muslims. I accept that.

But, what did British do? Destroyed India of its wealth, partitioned Hindus and Muslims.

Mass movement like QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT was performed aganist British; can you tell me one movement that we did aganist Muslims rulers? Because people where not completely aganist these rules.

More than that Hindustan comprises of Hindus and Muslims. How can we revolt aganist a Muslim or why should we celebrate that day?

Absolutely not.

India is a beautiful country whose strength lies in allowing people of different faiths to live together peacefully.

Problems exist currently because of fundamentalists from different areas.....you seem to represent the Hindu lot.

Hopefully someday we'll celebrate independence from fundamentalism.
