The last I knew the outer layer of the earth is called the crust. Or is this a trick question? Land maybe and oceans?

three things that make up the eart, the lithosphere (land mass), the Atmosphere (air), and hydrosphere, (water). if this does not answer your question, the 4 layers of the earth are Inner Core, Outer Core, Mantle, crust... this might answer it.
