Well, I guess it's kinda like why are asteroids in the sky instead of on your a*s, and why are hemorhoids on your as* instead of in the hemisphere?

because when you "call it a day" you are calling an end to your day, and the beggining of the ending (i.e. evening) when you "call it a night" your evening is over and you go to sleep

You can't "call it a day" while you are still experiencing the day, because the day isn't FULLY here yet.
