A blemish could be considered a flaw of any type, referred to maybe one on the skin, or at a more macro level, a "blemish to society", or something or someone that can be done without and serves no purpose.

Blemish, often characterized by skin discoloration or dark spots, sometimes know as Hyperpigmentation is a result of acne whiteheads, blackheads, or just plain old pimples that most of us acne sufferers are accustomed to. There are other types of skin blemishes for which we cannot blame acne, but occur in the skin naturally at birth. These are often referred to as port-wine stains.
The more common of the two types of course are blemishes caused by skin acne; which rear their ugly head when the pore becomes clogged with your natural body oil and infected with bacteria. This infection ultimately leads to the formation of Whiteheads or Blackheads. To make matters worse, the improper treatment of these acne lesions, such as picking or squeezing leads to the formation of scars or minor blemishes. I know it can be extremely tempting to pick or squeeze whiteheads, especially when you have a hot date, but avoid the temptation. Instead wrap an ice cube in a fine cloth and apply it to the pimple for about 2-3 minutes, this will slow down its growth and help you get through the evening.
Should the pimple accidentally burst open, and then the simple remedy to prevent the skin blemish from is to slice open a lemon and squeeze 10-15 drops onto a cotton ball and apply to the area for about ten minutes. The lemon juice will help neutralize the pH balance in the skin and prevent the blemish from forming and causing you much greater distress.
Wash your face twice a day (thrice at most) with gentle and unperfumed cleanser. Avoid using soaps as they contain harsh chemicals and ingredients that can damage your skin.
Avoid touching your face. Stop putting your hands by your face! I am often guilty of this resting my hand on the side of my head while reading. Also rubbing or bracing your chin is another common problem when thinking. Avoid rubbing, touching, or itching your skin with your hands. Your hands contain a lot of bacteria that can cause acne flare-ups.
It is probably one of the most difficult things to avoid since much of the hand to face contact throughout the day we are unconscious of. Make it a habit to avoid hand contact and be conscious of it during the day to avoid bacteria.
Avoid the temptation to pick, prick and squeeze your acne. This will send the infection deeper into the skin and can cause severe scarring.
For mild to moderate acne, you can use over- the- counter topical ointments, solutions, lotions or gels that contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or azelaic acid as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is best at killing P. acnes and may reduce oil production. Resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur help break down blackheads and whiteheads.
Salicylic acid also helps cut down the shedding of cells lining the follicles of the oil glands. Topical antibiotic solutions and lotions can also be applied
