When The British colonised India, India was not an independent country. It was already a colony of the Muslims. India hadn't been an independent country since the Delhi sultanate was established in the 7th century. It wasn't until 1947 that India would end up in the custody of it's true owners - the Hindus.

The funny thing is that India celebrates an independence day from British rule, but we do not celebrate an independence day from Muslim rule. Even though The British ruled India for 90 years whereas the unwanted Muslims ruled India for 13 centuries.

When India became independent in 1947, It was such as much Independent from Islam as it was from Britain.

Do you Agree with me that India should Celebrate an Independence Day from Islamic Rule???

so simple.....the british GOT OUT AND LEFT india
the muslims were rendered powerless not kicked out!
thats why we couldnt celebrate it.....
but ya know...we could atleast have celebrated the partition as 'liberation from wicked ppl'...im not saying that muslims are bad.....its just that if they wanted a partition(muslim league) then they could have had it.....we do not want such ppl in our india

BTW, do u know that MOST of the conservation in india started with muslims coming n plundering our country...originally our culture was even more free than US.....

oh well,....just had a look at that link which u gave me....but there is nothing to be gained crying over spilt milk u know....

India celebrates 'Independence of India' not independence from British. As soon as Mughal empire lost it's hold over India, British came in. It's only after 1947, the whole of India attained total freedom. I've read a your previous questions too. Seems you are totally against muslims. Grow up man. Brotherhood is the only way to maintain harmony in the world. India is the only country with most diversified culture. It's home for Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis, and various sects of Hindus. when we talk about religious freedom, we are not talking about progress, we are talking about creating rifts. Let every Indian have the feeling of Indian-ness irrespective of religion, caste, culture, etc. And please don't make generalized suggestions based on postings on some forums. If you had gone through the whole forum you would have understood the authencity of the posting there. All the best... :-)

The British empire exploited India as they did with Africa and the colonies of America. Unlike the Muslims, the British felt that it was the "white man's burden" to educate the natives. they felt they were better than the hindus and muslims in the country, that they were a superior race. read the book Burmese Days by George Orwell to get a real feel for the exploitation. Also islam is a religion not a people. The muslims were not a united people. They had formed various empires such as the turkish empire or the saracen empire.

All countries have developed their demographics over centuries. As has India. Muslims are as much a part of Indian culture and society as Christians, Buddhists etc etc. We celebrate independence from Britain - not from Christianity. Britain - ironically united India. For once all Indians together fought against the British. Before that India was divided into warring kingdoms even before and during the Mughal period. Besides, INDIANS did not rid India of Mughal rule. The British did. And since that happened over a period of time and not on a specified day - there cannot be an independence day against the Mughals, much less Islamic rule. Cheers !!!!

Indian union as was at the time of independence came in existence during British rule... before that period there were plenty of kingdoms ruled by different dynasties... Moghals, Marathas, Rajputs etc... The British dethroned the kings and established their empire... hence in 1947 there was no question of getting independence from Moghals... it was from British…

Even after independence the Indian government had to strive hard to convince Indian rulers of Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gwalior, Maisore, Hyderabad etc, who used to pay revenues to the British Empire, for merging their kingdoms with the Indian union...

In fact the so called kings and the common people took time to understand the meaning of independence and the concept of democracy…

It is the role of Government to give identity to a nation and by marking the date of the most recent change of regime, they time stamp the age of their most modern stage of development or reinvention. It also gives a government a yard stick by which to measure themselves. All countries do it this way and India is not wierd by picking the Brits to mark independence from, the Americans and 2/3 of most modern countries celebrate the same.

Humans have very short memories and deciding which history to teach the populus becomes a juggling act for education authorities, trust me on this I'm British and we have a lot. By focusing on the most recent and current regime it allows us group everything which happened before, and hence less immediately important facts together.

Why we should still follow, running army parades in British style. Instead of a salute., we can adopt to Namaste style by raising both palms together. This is how every politician says Namaste in any house. Let our military and police adopt to this style and let us start thinking like Indians.. That will be the real day of freedom.

All religions are interwoven in Indian culture. There cannot be any different day of freedom for Indian Muslims or Sikh or Jain. It is high time we come out of such petty feelings and grow into a giant power in the world.

You may be right. I was born after 1947 and we read as told by present rulers. My parents born before 1947 are no more.
