There has been some talks (amongst the organisers and Bernie Ecclestone) of Melbourne hosting a night GP in the future.
I personally don't like the idea at all. What do you think?

I think it's a great idea. F1 needs to bring some character back to the races. The level of overtaking is sadly pitiful and the only big personality (Schumi) just retired, so Mr. Ecclestone needs a big draw and from what I've heard, Singapore's bid for an F1 race in '09 may be a night race on a street circuit. Albert park's to picturesque to race at night.

I heard ecclestone talking about it on tv - I think its annother of his crackpot ideas to make more money. They should concentrate on making overtaking more common, plus i dont think a night race would be safe without radical overhauls to the cars - visibility is hard enough in the wet, although with stadium type floodlights it could work, and I hate not watching the race live.

I do not like the idea neither. Why to put unnecessary risk to the cars and pilots. Maybe the speed and performance of the race will decrease. Will not have any fun at all.

i think it would be great for the fans to watch all the light and glampour surrounding the cars and the drivers themselves but i think it would be an impossible job for the drivers.have mercy on them!!!!!!!!!!!!and perhaps the race organisers themselves,they'll have to match a race track with perhaps 1/3 the sun's light

It certainly will be different - would love Toseland to be on the podium (ahead of Casey lol - but that certainly is a dream!!!) As Ive said before, I really cant wait for March to come round, Im so excited!!!

i dont think so. At least not on a temporary circuit. It would be too dangerous. If they are going to do a night race, it should be on a lighted permanent road course.

It sounds like it would be fun to see from a fan perspective, but I think realistically it would be virtually impossible for the circuit and the teams to pull off safely.

It would be too unsafe, however I would like to see them race there in the rain again. Now that is entertainment. Maybe instead of installing lights, they can install sprinklers.

I watch NASCAR over here and the night races are a sight to behold!!!
