My grade level partner and I were just discussing this today. He is taking a grad course that was having a discussion regarding comprehension. Apparently, there are studies out now that show students can learn reading comprehension faster on computers rather than with the basic basal readers. I could give you a lot more of my opinion, but I know you need the facts. Good luck!!

Well, i think that use of the computer and internet changes learning entirely. Students are able to find so much more information on the internet nowadays, but they have to make sure they get credible sources...so there's a good side and a bad side. Also, with word processors, i don't have to strain myself blind attempting to read papers, but when the exams come around it's even worse, because i'm used to reading nice, straight type...

i agree that the computer enhances certain aspects of students' learning, but it is not the solution. too often have i had parents complaining that their kids spend too much time on the computer, and it's very easy to get sidetracked when the msn or whatever is RIGHT THERE...but the computer, when used appropriately, can be an extremely effective tool.

therefore, i guess i have to say that the computer neither enhances nor diminishes students' leraning. it depends on the context, the subject, and most of all, the student.
