I am not the type of person who can hear someone say something, and I just believe it. I have to know why people believe what they believe. Even scientist sometimes let philosophy get the better of them, so all must be subject to questions. So for me an educational experience would have to include the opportunity to ask questions
It also helps if I actually research some of the answers myself and find out something controversial in the process. For example one time I was researching Global Warming and I found a bunch of info about Global Cooling, and that scientist believed in it just as strongly as they believe in global warming back in the 1970's.
To me the best thing a teacher can do for their students is teach the kids critical thinking skills, and research techniques, and give them a controversial subject to study both sides on.
