The slightly revised rates for cars with CO2 emissions up to 225g/km apply to all vehicles first registered from 1st March 2001 (51-reg in England, Scotland and Wales).

The new higher rate for cars with CO2 emissions over 225g/km only applies to cars first registered on or after 23rd March 2006.

For older vehicles (first registered before March 2001), the tax is based on engine size with two rates - one for engines up to 1549cc and one for engines over 1549cc.

Another stealth tax to rob the working man of his hard earned enjoyment. This government only favours the unwashed, unemployable, scroungers and 'none UK passport holders'.

Hopefully Browns last tax burdening budget. Hopefully the Scot will return to eating cold porridge in Scotland.
