I have vaginal bleeding on a semi-regular basis. I bleed on and off for days when it's not my period. I am on birth control. I was on ortho tricyclen lo and my doctor switched it because of the bleeding and after a couple of months I started bleeding again. This has been going on for about two years now. Obviously its not pregnancy, and its not any diseases, since I've been to the doctor several times. This birth control I'm on is supposed to have a higher hormone, so I don't know why I would be bleeding so often (probably on and off during the day for at least 10 days when it's not my period).

I know how frustrating this is. I had been on birth control pills for 5 years and had that happen every single month. My doctor switched my pills many times and it just continued to happen no matter what I was on. I stopped taking them all together and then my periods started being 10-16 days long with severe pain. It ended up that I have endometriosis, which cannot be found with a pelvic exam.

I don't know what brand of pill you are on right now but I'm having issues with vaginal bleeding (breakthrough bleeding which can act a lot like a menstrual period but is bleeding that occurs at other times during the month separate from the period) again myself and my dr told me yesterday to double up on pills for a couple of days. I started having issues with bleeding again because I thought it had something to do with the fact that I didn't take my pill on a Sat nite about 2 weeks ago when the bathroom sink's drain ate it.

It could be that your body is trying to adjust to this new pill but I would recommend getting back in touch with the dr to let them know what is going on and see what they recommend.

You are free to IM or e-mail me directly any time if you want to talk more about this.
