Questions like this are why I come here. Do they seriously call people who are attracted to heavier people "chubby chasers"? I'm female- I do need to change my ID as people keep calling me "Pop" LOL.
On to your question- NO, I don't personally know any females that just go out looking for heavy guys to "chase" as you said. I DO think females tend to focus more on personality than looks, especially for a long term relationship. So, if a heavy guy has a great personality they may not feel weight is an issue. I think most guys tend to go after looks and then hope or just consider it a bonus if there's a good personality in the package.
I have always been thin and painfully so half my life. By today's standards, I'd have made the perfect runway model, lol. The point being that I was also always attracted to the really thin guys. When I was younger (HS, College days) every really thin guy I had a "crush" on (yes that's what it was called then ;) ) always ended up with a really heavy girl. I thought since we were both really thin we could relate, so I could never figure it out. I I ran into one of them many years later. He mentioned he'd had a bad crush on ME. I had to laugh and told him that I thought he had it backwards. He said he was just really self conscious about being so thin and figured being with a heavier girl would compensate for that. That just proves how the female and male brains work so differently! Thin guys without muscles were really picked on back then. My husband is tall and thin but not too thin and so am I. IF he were to get heavy, I wouldn't love him less because of the weight, but at the same time I really appreciate the fact he takes pride in his body and will start cutting back the snacks if he puts on a few extra pounds.
I too, am anxious to know if there are ladies that prefer heavy men, not because they love one already but were actually attracted to one strictly because he was. VERY interesting!

I'm sure there are, personally I love fit men, however, once I'm in love, I like my man eventhough he puts on a bit of weight;) to me he's and remains the most attractive and irresistible man on Earth, no matter if he had a few extra pounds;)

Of course, and we don't seem to get as much crap about it as the guys do. My friends don't make fun of me for liking guys who are on the heavy side. I am just not attracted to thin guys, always feel like I could bench press them, lol! I can't say the same for the guys I know who like bigger girls, seems their male friends thrive on attempting to humiliate them for their preference.
