Okay, so i have this friend and she is black, and she has blue eyes. I asked her if it was natural, and she said yes. But isnt blue eyes a caucasion trait? And neither of her parents are white, so she's not mixed, so how does she have natural blue eyes? Could this be a natural trait in black people, or do you think shes wearing contacts? Lol, i have no clue.

She doesn't have to be wearing contacts but chances are somewhere along the line she has Caucasian in her family but that doesn't always mean that. The Australian Aborigines had blonde hair and blue eyes before the Europeans ever set foot on Australia

It happens, even if 2 parents have brown eyes they could still have the recessive blue-eyed trait, and if they both pass along the reccessive gene to their child well...viola a blue-eyed baby is born lol. It's not that common but it's possible.

It could happen. Blue eyes are recessive, which means the genes for them could remain hidden in brown eyed people for many generations. If both of her parents carried this recessive gene, she could indeed have gotten natural blue eyes. However, I'm 99% sure that both parents would have to have some caucasian blood in them for this to happen. It wouldn't have to be much, just enough to introduce the blue genes, and then they'd have to have floated along from generation to generation, hidden away.

Usually black people don't come with blue eyes. But it does happen sometimes. Depending on what's in her family's gene pool.
They could be real or she could just be messin' with you. Just pay more attention to her eyes and see if you notice a very faint ring going around the whites of her eyes.

Just something to think about. It is said that Africans were the first people to inherit the earth, so maybe the blue eyes are how they should be and everybody else is a mutation of Africans.

I have a very good friend like that. And his complexion is also very dark even for a black person. It happens.
Usually it's a trait inherited from that one, generations distant white ancestor. Also could be an Iranian or Afgani ancestor (they can have blue eyes too.)

It could be that one of your ancestors was caucasian. There are a lot of black people that have a little "white" blood from the past.... which was prevelant in the days of slavery long ago.

I knew a kid that had red hair and freckles but everyone in the family (family +relatives) all had very dark brown hair. They found out later that one of their ancestors (like great great great grandfather) had bright red hair and freckles.

It's all about genes..traits aren't exclusive to skin color or ethnic group. All whites don't have blue eyes, and all black people don't have brown eyes.Actually, most PEOPLE have brown eyes. You didn't mention whether she had lightskin or not.....or is that a white trait too?
