Yes, there anti-war protests against the US facing the evil that was Hitler. Yes. It's almost beyond belief isn't it?

These are the same people, and same types of people that are protesting against putting a stop to yet another murderous evil regime (read: Sadaam). They would much prefer to let these regimes continue murdering millions of innocent people, and threaten and take over other countries, and commit ethnic cleansing.

They SICKEN me with their self-righteous hypocrisy.

Anti-War WW2 protester: "I support the troops, but invading Germany does not guarantee that in 56 years we won't have a President who's worse than Hitler".
"Its been two and a half years since Pearl Harbor and they still havent brought Admiral Nagumo to justice!"

Amen my sister, Rachel. Tell it like it is!!

Yes. There were indeed war protestors back in World War II. Fortunately for us, we did not have television and satellite technology in those days, or the morale of the troops and citizens would have been hurt terribly!

The soldiers we send overseas have liberated so many people and offered them a better life than under their previous regimes. They also keep terrorism off our shores and take the fight to the enemy where it belongs.

It sickens me also, that there are those out there who hate this country so much that it would protest it's own troops and demoralize them in a time of war.

Why in the world these people think we should leave the terrorists alone is beyond me. We've been attacked not only in this country on 9/11, but worldwide as well. And these Muslim terrorists are going to keep up their attacks unless we take the fight to them. The ones who protest this fight are sitting in the comfort of their own homes, in their towns, in safety. And they do so because some hero of a young man or woman puts a uniform on and does the duty that they volunteered to do. And to protest these fine men and women, and those who lead them is a disgrace.

I'd personally drop all these Hollywood scumbags, music entertainers, anti-war activists, and the rest of these America-hating Communists off somewhere in Afghanistan and let them live their lives with the Taliban, and see how they like that.

A few historical corrections / clarifications are needed.

#1. The GOP was the anti-war party back in the late 1930's and early 1940's. FDR was trying to get the country ready for war as calmly as he could without the right-wing going nuts.

#2. Hitler actually declared war on us before we began military action against him.

#3. Stalin killed more people than any one man in history and we did next to nothing to him.

Beyond all that, can someone answer me this; how is fighting a war in Iraq supposed to ensure that we won't be attacked here at home? Is this not a "global war on terror"? And if it does keep us safe, why did it not keep the British people of London safe during the July 7 terrorist bombings?!? You know, the same Britian that is second only to the US in numbers of troops in Iraq.

And by the way, there are actually politically moderate, non-liberal Americans who have served their country in uniform and are opposed to the war in Iraq. I'm just one.

Did you know that most of America didn't want anything to do with the war but to profit from it until you had no choice after the Japanese bombed Pearl harbor.Did you you know that Britain ,Australia and New Zealand were the only ones to try and stop Hitler followed by France they stood up when the rest of the world didn't for a war that was justified and Saddam doesn't even come close to Hitler.

I am assuming you slept through history class a lot.

Yes, many of the people opposing American entry into both world wars were the usual collection of militant pacifists. Many churches like the Quakers and the Amish have a long history of opposition to war.

The majority of the protesters, however, were dupes. So called heroes like Charles Lindberg (never the brightest bulb in the box) bought the Nazi line and fought beside the German American Bundists to keep the US from becoming involved.

It was the same in the First World War. In neither case did the USA enter a war to save democracies because the business sector wanted to make money selling to both sides. In both cases the USA only entered when they were attacked.

Not the sort of record to make you proud, is it?

How righteous can the USA be when most of the regimes it overthrows it attacks for business reasons. There is little honour in self enrichment, and none in breaking and entering.

I suggest, if you are upset by the self righteousness of the protestors, compare it to the equivalent hypocrisy of the Bush League. At least the protestors actually believe what they are saying, while W's advisors know he is lying, even if he hasn't figured it out himself.

No. Those who were for war, during both World Wars, are the ones who are today against US wars of aggression. And those Anti-War protesters of both World Wars are the ones who support the war of aggression against Iraq, and especially the NATO Jihad against Yugoslavia in 1999, and against Republika Srpska in 1995. And if they said that one day the USA would have a president worse then Hitler, then they were right (except for the fact they would have been even more right had they predicted that the US would have a few presidents like that, and that the wife of the worst one of these US presidents would be a presidential candidate herself and would not use deodorant).

There were also terrorist bombings in Berlin after the war for a couple of years. Aimed at the Allies. There have always been "protesters" going back to the Revolutionary War. History has proved them wrong every time.

God will you take your self righteous crap to another board please? I get so sick of hearing about how you think people hate America....for god sakes IT'S AMERICA! YOU ARE NO BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE!

Basically what your saying here, is that...it is okay for you to voice your dislike about something. But when someone else does that it sickens you. I call BS on this, and point your hypocrisy back in your face.

Remember that when your pointing the finger at someone else you have 3 others pointing right back in your face.

Learn to live with people who are different then you, or get the hell out of this free society.

What's beyond belief is that you equate those protesting our involvement in World War II with those protesting our involvement in Iraq.

You obviously have no sense of historical perspective or any critical reasoning skills.

May I respectfully suggest a few classes at your local community college?

They are NOT the same people. Read some history, please.
Edsel Ford, Charles Lindbergh, The director and CEO of Texaco Oil, the CEO of I.T.T , America First ers like Senator Wheeler, John L Lewis, were in some cases ardent NAZI admirers, or outright sympathizers. American Legions and political conservatives in the US all opted for neutrality or doing bu sines with the Third Reich. - For the most part the same kind of people who support Bush today, would have been dis interested in what the Nazis were doing in Europe, Franco in Spain or Mussolini in Italy. A lot of liberals went to Spain to FIGHT fascism.

Nobody's protesting against Saddam Hussein. He's dead.

Just because anti-war protesters were against a war that history has proven legitimate doesn't mean the anti-war protesters today are wrong. Many churches supported slavery (because it freed the slaves from pagan Africa and brought them to Jesus), but that doesn't make churches wrong all the time, either.
